What We Do
Based in the Fort Collins/Loveland area of northern Colorado, the Northern Colorado
Traditional Jazz Society – NCTJS –or NoCO Trad Jazz – is a membership of jazz enthusiasts who
enjoy and support the wide variety of Traditional jazz forms in this region. Our Society is a
federally registered 50lc3 nonprofit corporation governed by a board of directors and run
entirely by volunteers.
Partnership with PRI
The NCTJS was founded in 1995 alongside the Poudre River Irregulars (PRI) jazz band and we
have continued over the years with a joint business relationship. With the Society’s move in
2023 to a federal non-profit determination, we will continue endorsing the PRI, with goals of
financial clarity for them and for our members, as we broaden the knowledge and appreciation of
traditional jazz in our community.
First Friday at Avo’s
Avogadro’s Number, a landmark restaurant in Ft. Collins, has been home to the PRI and NCTJS,
since 1995! The Irregulars have a long-standing arrangement to play at Avo’s on the first Friday
of every month. These informal concerts always draw a large crowd, and our Society members
help to manage the logistics and the handling of cover charge payments from fans.
